Join the Cable and Broadband Committee!
The goal of the Cable and Broadband Committee is to analyze and advise the City on the impacts of broadband connectivity to the City of Seattle, including cable service. We study issues related to digital inclusion, openness, and access. We have an exciting 2015 workplan, which will be posted in a separate blog entry shortly.
Come join our meetings! At tomorrow’s meeting, we’ll be discussing the following:
- Collaborating with the city on opportunities for public input on the upcoming cable franchise negotiations with Comcast and CenturyLink
- Discuss the proposed revisions to the City’s cable code, specifically with regard to the elimination of the cable franchise districts
- Identifying opportunities for public input into the city’s broadband strategy
- Reviewing our draft position statement that provides recommendations to the City and our internet service providers on how to make to low-income internet programs more accessible to Seattle residents – a draft of this statement will be posted to the blog shortly as a separate entry
Can’t make it tomorrow? We meet every 4th Monday from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at O’Asian Restaurant, 800 5th Ave, Seattle. Free parking is available!
